What’s happening at the Southern Centre?
We are pleased to report that the Southern Centre's relocation to Pioneer Recreation & Sport Centre is well under way. We are currently on schedule to re open at the end of February early March.
Bookings for the Southern Centre will be available prior to the opening and once we have a confirmed opening date. This information will be available on our website and the Christchurch City Council website. Bookings for the Southern Centre Sensory Room, All Feet Can Dance and Every Body Can Move sessions can be booked by phoning (03) 941 8999 or by coming into Pioneer Recreation & Sport Centre.
Adult Classes for Term 1 2012:
- All Feet can Dance classes begin Tuesday February 13th and end April 2nd 11:15am – 12 o'clock.
- Everybody Can Move classes begin Thursday February 16th and end April 5th 1pm – 1:45pm.
The Southern Centre Multi-Sensory Experience
Relax and enjoy a sensory world of light, sound, scent and touch. We use a wide range of sensory effects that creates a stimulating but restful experience.

Multi sensory rooms are recognised as providing a space for participants to have fun, interact, explore and absorb different experiences.
The equipment is fun for all people of all abilities, but can be particularly rewarding for children, youth, people with disabilities and adults who are young at heart!
